With summer quickly fading, and fall arriving on its heels, the weather is finally perfect for holding an enjoyable back yard birthday party. One of the bonuses of having a party outside is, especially with little kids, is that you don't have to worry about your house getting messy or unsightly spills on your floors! Kids love to play outside and it gives them lots of room to run around, be silly, and have lots of fun at a princess party. Even if you don't have a nice back yard that is fenced in (so that no little princesses escape), many neighbors, friends, or family would mostly likely be willing to loan you theirs for a few hours for the party. If you would rather not ask friends or family, then try holding your birthday celebration at a local park. You will need to ask more adults to help watch, since parks are so large and you want to make sure that no kids get lost. It is also acceptable to invite the parents to come as well, and then you won't have to worry about watching so many kids.
It would be fun to invite your guests to wear princess clothing to the party or their favorite fancy dress. If you want to get extra fancy, you could provide a dress for each attendee to wear to the party. Many online retailers offer bulk discounts for parties or travels to Disney theme parks.
Baby Play Yard
One fun activity you can use at your backyard princess party is swimming. You could put a kiddie pool in your backyard and let the water entertain the children. You could have fun princess items for them to use in the pool like princess water and sand toys. Sprinklers are fun too and are a little less messy than a pool. Don't forget to remind your guests to wear sunscreen.
Another idea would be to hold a back yard picnic complete with princess picnic ware like tablecloths, plate, napkins, and cups. It would be fun to have a barbeque with hotdogs and hamburgers or serve items you might serve at a baby shower like finger sandwiches, small desserts and things that can be consumed in one bite. Cupcakes or mini cupcakes would be the perfect dessert for an outdoor princess party.
Decorations suitable for the outdoors may include helium balloons in pink and white, streams can be spread out between a deck and trees or hanging from branches. If you are hosting an evening birthday party, you could use outdoor lighting and maybe include a ball or dancing in your activity list. It would be fun to invite a father or an actor dressed up as a prince to twirl the little girls around in their pretty dresses.
There are some outdoor games that are fun to play at parties, including hopscotch
And hide and seek. If you have a lot of trees and hiding places in your yard, you could do some kind of princess scavenger hunt where guests are given clues to find certain princess items such as wands, crowns, tiaras, princess shoes, princess dresses, and so on. You could even make these items favors so the girls can take them home with them.
Most of all, just have fun at your daughter's back yard party!
